Getting to Sofia

Getting around Sofia

Sofia’s public transportation network is very well developed with four metro lines and various bus, tramway and trolleybus lines. A single-trip ticket could be purchased in all means of transport with a contactless credit or debit card.

Language

The official language of the Conference will be English. All abstract submissions and presentations should be in English.

Visa Information

Most European, US and Canadian citizens do not require an entry visa for Bulgaria. Please consult the Bulgarian Embassy or Consulate nearest to you for specific details relating to visas. It is a responsibility of the participant to obtain a visa if required.

Climate

Located at the foot of the Vitosha mountain and surrounded by the Balkan mountains to the north, Sofia is the third highest capital in Europe. The capital city has a continental climate and October is another enjoyable autumn month with predominantly warm and mild weather.

The average minimum temperature in October is 7°C (45°F). The average maximum temperature lies around 18°C (64°F).

October is the month with the lowest number of rainy days, however, make sure to bring an umbrella and a jacket with you as weather conditions in the autumn tend to be dynamic.

Currency

The unit of currency in Bulgaria is the Bulgarian lev (BGN). The Bulgarian lev is pegged to the euro at the following rate:

1 EUR = 1.96 BGN

Guest attendance policy

All event activities (including educational sessions, meal functions, exhibit hall, etc.) are exclusively reserved for registered attendees. Non-registered guests (including children, family members, colleagues, etc.) are not allowed in any of the event areas. Badges provided at registration are required for entrance into all functions and will be strictly enforced.

Liability and Insurance

The Conference Secretariat and Organisers cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of/damage to private property of participants. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.
